People from all around the United States have their preconceived notions about the Seattle area that may or may not be true. Some of the more common myths are that it rains constantly in the Seattle and Tacoma area and everyone dresses like a lumberjack. As residents of the Seattle/Tacoma area, it is fun to see what others think of our part of the world, but the truth is that we also want to be seen as a community that is unified through the teachings of Christianity. The Word of God is extremely popular throughout the Northwest, and we like to believe that our efforts to be good Christians in the Seattle/Tacoma area have something to do with God’s word being so prominent.
The Seattle/Tacoma area is a large and close-knit community. We care for each other in the ways that God wants us to care for our neighbors. We also have a reputation for being welcoming to strangers and giving weary travelers a new place to call home. All of those positive acts come from the Christian faith, and they are carried out by people who believe that keeping Christianity strong is a very important part of any community. When people from outside the area come to see what Seattle/Tacoma is really about, we want to make sure that our Christian beliefs come shining through and put God’s love on display.
This area has changed a lot over the past few decades, and the future brings plenty of excitement for everyone. But as we move on to our area’s next adventure, we need to keep in mind the foundation of faith that has helped us to get this far. When people think about our area, we want them to think about our Christian values and the ways that we make our area a better place to live. We reach out to the less fortunate that live in the Seattle/Tacoma area, and we show them the same Christian love that we show the visitors who come here every day. As we move into the unknown future for our area, we can all rest easy knowing that our strong Christian roots will keep our community safe and help us to develop a great place to live.
